Making Music Makes You Smarter

Patrons received exclusive early access to this post.

A couple weeks ago I left you on a cliffhanger after taking apart a Schulmerich handbell and explaining its anatomy.

Now, it's time to see if we can put our poor C4 handbell back together again.

While this lesson focuses on Schulmerich instruments, I plan to produce a similar lesson for Malmark handbells.  I plan to also touch more specifically on refining tension settings and how to properly voice a set of handbells in future Handbell How-To lessons. We'll also be replacing the restraining spring that broke during the Auld Lang Syne new year video.

Please take a moment to contribute to the YouTube comments section for this video with a question, comment, or suggestion for future content. While you're there, please smash the thumbs-up button.  Every user interaction is factored into the YouTube recommendation algorithm, and that helps expose these lessons to a broader audience.

Looking forward to the next month, there will be some Patron-exclusive content of lighter fare.  As much as I might enjoy working on the #BuildBetterBrains educational series as a full-time gig, my paid responsibilities as a college educator are going to keep me particularly busy in April.

Thank you for your ongoing support of these #BuildBetterBrains lessons and demonstrations. Every video share, every comment, every cent helps make what I do better.

Let's #BuildBetterBrains Together

What to do until the next video? As always, these are the most helpful:

  • Share my posts and videos with your friends wherever you social.
  • Subscribe to my channel on YouTube and comment on each video.
  • Smash those like buttons on my Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr posts, and leave a note about what was good.
  • Suggest your genius, wacky, or just plain good ideas about what I can do better.

Finally, please ask your friends and colleagues to join you in your support of this cause with a shout out on Facebook or post on Twitter or even a good old fashioned personal email.Thank you again. Let's make music together. Let's #BuildBetterBrains.
