APRIL 27, 2006 — MUNCIE, IND. — The University Schools Band on the campus of Ball State University will feature the premiere performance of An American Fanfare by Daniel M. Reck on on Sunday, May 7, 2006.
"The director has been asking me to write a piece for the band for over a year,” says Reck, who is composer-in-residence forthe University Schools Band. “It is very exciting to explore music with these talented young people."
Band director Brad Meyerdierks says, "The piece evokes a very Americana feeling with an almost Copland-esque sound."

SEPTEMBER 5, 2004 — GREENCASTLE, IND. — The DePauw School of Music presents the DePauw University Orchestra in its opening concert of the academic year on Sunday, September 19, featuring the first performance of a new work by a recent DePauw graduate. Under the direction of Orcenith Smith, the Orchestra will present Of Dreams Eternal by 2003 DePauw graduate, Daniel Reck.
Reck received word of the accident as he was putting the final touches on his composition. “From the start, Of Dreams Eternal was intended to be a celebration of dreams and life,” Reck says, “It isn’t a memorial, but a fitting portrait of Doug’s life. He touched a lot of people.”
